Facing List Instructions

Facing List
Global Underscore
June 23, 2013

The Facing List for Global Underscore 2013 arranges the 51 sites of this year practice in order of longitude from west to east.

(Full Practice and Modified Jam sites SKIP OVER the Satellites; Satellites use the order to join into the zig zag the other sites make.  Treat KORU ISLAND as a Satellite, as no one is actually standing at the Bermuda Triangle.)

If we use the facing list we will make a zig zag line that wraps all the way around the planet.  Oakland starts the list and the line zig zags across the United States until it includes Monterrey Mexico, and then Quito and South America.  The last site in North America is Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada; it is a SAT or Satellite so Deerfield skips Koru Island and Halifax to face Buenos Aires.  Rio de Janerio faces Lisbon as the line leaps across the Atlantic to where Nancy and Mike practice.  The line then continues to zig zags with very sharp northeast and southeast facing directions for the sites across Europe and the UK.  The last site in Europe is Vienna.  Vienna faces Kyrenia, which faces, Kuang and so on, until Wellington, New Zealand faces Sandy, Utah.  Oakland faces Sandy, as well; it is a Satellite.

For "The First Global Small Dance 00:55", use the facing list in in the order given.  We face eastwardly toward the rising sun in the beginning.

For example, Oakland (SAT) faces Sandy, Lisbon faces Camas, Kyrenia faces Kuang.  We face eastwardly toward the rising sun in the beginning.  Wellington faces Sandy, Montreal faces Deefield (to skip Redding (SAT)), Brooklyn faces Deerfield (skipping Montreal (SAT) and Redding (SAT)).

For "The Second Global Small Dance 03:55", use the facing list in the reverse order.  We face westwardly toward the setting sun in the end.

For example, Sydney faces Perth, which faces Kuang.  Oakland (SAT) faces Sydney.  Kyrenia faces Vienna, skipping Istanbul (SAT); Istanbul faces Vienna).

You may not end up facing DUE east or west; it is more likely you will face a site very northeast or southeast for the first Small Dance, and then face a site very northwest or southwest for the second Small Dance.  But the line follows our vision by our facing in the direction eastward in the beginning and westward at the end.
